We quantified the release of NA in the VMH during 3 h cold exposure (5℃ ) in bothgroups. Cold exposure significantly increased the extracellular NA levels in the VMH only in theCA group: not in the RA group. To further evaluate relationships between these different results inVMH NA levels and Tcore regulation in the cold, we measured Tcore during perfusion ofα-adrenoceptor antagonist phenoxybenzamine during cold exposure. This pharmacological procedureinduced significant hypothermia only in the CA group: no changes were observed Tcore in theRA group.
